Labrang Monastery is one of the last six monasteries belonging to the Yellow hat sect, Gelugpa. Nestled between high mountains with eternal snow and vast steppes, Labrang is still the largest Tibetan monastery outside Tibet and has nearly 1,200 monks vibrating to the rhythm of the gongs of its lamaseries.
This instant film is taken from a scene at 2019, during the Mönlam Chenmo Festival, “the great prayer” marks the continuation of the Tibetan New Year festivities.
